Engraved mate.

Biscuit-type gourd, engraved, with the legend: “Santiago Poggi / Teresa R. de Poggi / Felicidad”. Measures. Height: 7.7 cm / 3 in.

Sympathetic manifestation of Creole popular art. From the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th, romantic gestures were also transferred to the elements of daily use in the custom of mate, made with an important aesthetic load, such as the container itself, and the yerberas and sugar bowls. Made in the carved gourd itself, in carved woods, in the antlers of the cattle and even in silver and gold, each work used to convey messages with a high load of emotion. This is how we appreciate it in this issue, with a decoration of phytomorphic inspiration and the cartouches with the legend of who gives and who receives ... and a word that unites them: happiness.
