SILVERSMITH´S

Large size buckle. Corrientes. First half of the 20th century.

Important silver and gold buckle, with an almost square section, personalized with the initials “F. S.A.” Measures. Length: 12.8cm. Height: 12.1 cm. Weight: 255 grams.

Typical work of Corrientes Creole silverware, with the exuberance of its flora represented by chisel strokes, and the touches of attention applied in gold. This piece has the same initials as the drag with its handle offered in the previous lot. And both are ascribed to the coastal taste of the province of Corrientes, although we understand that they were made by different silversmiths and at different times, being the oldest harrow. This point reinforces the general idea that countrymen gathered their pilchas over the years and commissioned them in different workshops, as savings allowed.
