Exceptional documentation concerning the efforts to consolidate the Port of Buenos Aires prior to the city's designation as the Capital of the Nation. The reports of the English engineer Juan Federico La Trobe Bateman, hired in 1870 for the construction of the port of Buenos Aires, for which he submitted a plan while also developing the project for the provision of running water, the reservoirs, the drainage network, and the paving of the city. It includes a history of the formation of the various agricultural colonies in the provinces.
