Numerous references in ecclesiastical documents mention silversmiths and goldsmiths active in Buenos Aires throughout the 18th century. There is even mention of an important workshop about which little is known, except for a group of pieces that clearly originated from the same production center. At that time, the Church was the primary patron of the most skilled artisans, and this chalice, even in its simple lines, shows that it was made in one of those workshops.
