ENGLISH INVASIONS: BIBLIOGRAPHIC FIND
FORM. Without date.
Unknown in the Argentine bibliography. Quarto (30 x 21 cm. / 11.81 x 8.26 in.), 1 sheet., blank. Printed and manuscript. Preserved in a modern folder with golden titles. Not in Medina. Not in Furlong. Not on Zinny.
The Buenos Aires Infantry Volunteer Battalion consisted of eight companies and acted under the command of Captain Juan Florencio Terrada de Fretes. It did it in 1806 and 1807 against the British troops that occupied Buenos Aires, achieving a memorable performance in the last reconquest.
In our Auction VI we presented a similar enlistment form; but this one - of a greater bibliographic rarity - appears with a printing error: it says "previena" where it should say "previene" (“prevents”). The recruited volunteer, “about twenty years old” -mendocino, single and without declared profession- was called Juan Luzero.
