100 AÑOS DE LIDERAZGO. ASOCIACIÓN ARGENTINA DE ANGUS.

Juan Carlos Grassi (Editorial direction). Buenos Aires. Editorial Fairs & Congresses. 2020.

Folio (30.4 x 23.2 cm), 368 pages. Cloth binding with dust jacket.

Monumental study on the development of this livestock breed since the arrival of the first specimens just twelve years after being recognized as a breed in 1867 in the United Kingdom. Its history is linked to the development of our country, and in the pages of this book, important visual documentation illustrates each of its stages.

In 1920, twenty-seven producers joined forces to give life to what was then called the Argentine Corporation of Aberdeen-Angus, and one hundred years after that event, this editorial effort reflects its journey, so intimately linked to the evolution of the country. In its pages, the itinerary begins with the Scottish visionaries and the life stories of those pioneering breeders. In the same way, it stops at the first experiences in Argentina, with the Guerrero at the head, and the progress of the breed in our fields.

It is fair to recognize that the book transcends the Argentine growth of the "Aberdinian" family, since the country developed from the rural and livestock axis, presented here with its successes and complexities: we see the livestock exhibitions and the commitment of the different governments national throughout two centuries; For example, we find the history of the first Argentine Rural Society created in 1826, an initiative that did not manage to project itself in time, but that served as inspiration for the current SRA to be founded four decades later.

For those interested in the Argentine countryside, in ruralia issues and in livestock development in particular, this work deserves a central destination in your library. And we already expressed it, it also deserves its reading among those who are interested in the historical evolution of Argentina.
