The diva on the stage of a theater wears a beautiful dress and as is classic in the gesture of the singers, she raises a hand while she sings. In the pit the musicians, horns, trumpets, violins and double basses, unlike what happens today, turn their backs on the public and look towards the stage. Three procedures can be observed in this small and precious study. On the one hand, the first sketch in pencil, of agile preparation, then with ink the generation of texture and darkness, in the manner of engraving, through a network of lines, as we can see inside the stage, and finally, with a great degree of detail, the features of the various characters made in ink and with interesting cartoonish gestures.

Eduardo Sívori (Buenos Aires, 1847 - 1918), painter, was one of the leading figures in the visual arts of Argentina. In the conception of José León Pagano (1) the group of precursors - whose maximum value is Prilidiano Pueyrredón - are succeeded by the organizers, where Sívori is located, with outstanding seat. A man of fortune, he was able to devote all of his time and energy to art. He studied at the Sociedad Estímulo de Bellas Artes with Cartón, Aguyari and Romero and in Paris with Jean Paul Laurens, Collin, Hannoteau and Pubis de Chavannes.
