Work of Luis Isabelino Aquino (1895 - 1968), painter, sculptor and great medalist. Recognized for his qualities as a landscape artist, ascribed to impressionism, he cultivated the portrait especially in the medal, being one of the great Argentine authors of the twentieth century. Here we find it in the tribute that the Bank of the Province of Buenos Aires paid to the Liberator of America in 1950, a San Martin year -decreed by the National Congress- on the first centenary of his death. The Museum of the Central Bank of the Argentine Republic has a copy of this medal, also silver, in its San Martin collection, which belonged to the Argentine numismatist Jorge Janson.
