Hands of Trinaz Fox. Buenos Aires. 1937.

Gelatin silver print -15 x 10.5 cm. / 5.9 x 4.13 in.- on plain semi-matte weight paper. Wet seal on the back: “Photo Studio Annemarie Heinrich. Radiolandia Magazine Archive. Nov 25, 1947”.

The hands of Rubens Fonseca, a Brazilian artist (1899 - 1964) who signed his cartoons as Trinaz Fox, are the protagonists of the image. In 1937 he visited the studio of Annemarie Heinrich who portrayed him with his wooden camera, Anastigmat lens, with a 12 x 16 ½ plate, illuminating it with tungsten lights. (1)

Annemarie Heinrich (1912 - 1985), of German origin, was one of the most outstanding portraitists, having learned her trade already in Argentina where she moved with her family in 1926. She was characterized by artistically documenting the most important figures in the theater, cinema, dance and the arts in Argentina since the 1940s. Collaborator of the social magazines of that time -in particular, "Radiolandia" included her as the star photographer of her staff- Heinrich encouraged her studies in the management of laboratory work with remarkable results. The photograph offered testifies to these expressive searches. The play of light and the registration of the artist's hands was a subject that captivated great authors of universal painting.
