MAPS & PLANS

BUENOS AIRES (CITY AND CAMPAIGN)

THE ROAD NETWORK, LITTLE LESS THAN ONE HUNDRED YEARS AGO

Radials of the Federal Capital. Buenos Aires. Bemporat Cartographic Office. Without date. (circa 1925).

Printed on heavy paper, folded and bound in a fabric publisher's folder with embossed front cover and gilt titles. Specimen in very good condition. Measurements: 118 x 81.6 cm.

The letter includes the cities and the roads that link them. It extends south to the city of La Plata; towards the North, until Zárate, and in the western line it reaches Navarro, Mercedes, San Andrés de Giles and Vagues, in the district of San Antonio de Areco. In addition, a box includes a section bordering the coast, between La Plata and Magdalena.

As Important Notes, we read: “The roads in green are the main ones and in better conditions for the transit of Cars, Trucks, Cars, etc. because in certain points far from the Capital these roads are made of dirt and are not always in perfect condition along their entire length.” And next, “Roads in Colorado are secondary and generally dirt roads.”

The editorial cartographic office had two offices at that time: in Córdoba 2437 and Juncal 5241, both in the city of Buenos Aires.
