In the two pages of text, the author indicates that these drawings were started on his journey through the American highlands -a journey that lasted between 1945 and 46- and concluded in Buenos Aires in 1955 to give shape to "this notebook".

Said text is the newspaper written on Thursday, September 6, 1945, in the middle of the trip, when crossing the border between Bolivia and Peru… Badii is surprised by some parties held in the last Bolivian town, dances, revelry and a general drunkenness. "There is by God in my brain what has been recorded to me" -he wrote. And that same night, when he arrived at the hotel, he began these drawings that ten years later, gave them final forms in Buenos Aires.
