Beaten, burnished and chiseled to the surface of water, with the particularity of presenting its first lobed section. The handle, with a sober phytomorph-inspired chiseling. Smooth design, with two centers as reserves, chiseled around its perimeter with leaves and flowers, and engraved, the name of its former owner: Antonio Ca… Measurements. Height: 8.7 cm. Mouth diameter: 6.3 cm. Weight: 166 grams.

Very interesting because it bears the punch of a silversmith who worked in Lobos, province of Buenos Aires, in the second half of the 19th century. This is evidenced by the 1869 census that records him as 25 years old, Spanish, knowing how to read and write. That small town was advancing at that time around the chapel that gave rise to it in 1802, built at the expense of José Salgado. Typical rural population, in 1874 it reached the front pages of the capital's newspapers due to a police episode that disturbed its peace. In April of that year, surely with the silversmith Durán making pieces for ranchers and other parishioners who came to his workshop, a police party found the fearsome Juan Moreira in the “La Estrella” grocery store. Escaping from the law, his fame had already spread, he died there trying to escape and earlier wounding two of the policemen who were chasing him. History, popular myth, legend... The truth is that the tomb of Juan Moreira is located in Lobos.
