FROM HIS HAND AND LETTER
Autograph and dedication. (Circa 1900)
Postcard dedicated and signed by this great French author. Former Matilde Lavarello collection.
Jules Verne (1828 - 1905), a writer of enormous value to whose pen we owe hours of glory in the readings of his best-known titles. Let us remember "Journey to the center of the Earth", "Twenty thousand leagues of submarine travel", "Around the world in eighty days", "From the Earth to the Moon" and for adding another book that accompanied us in adolescence, " Five weeks in a balloon”.
In the art of collecting, the signatures of the greatest personalities in culture, science and politics have captivated a wide range of audiences. This postcard has that unique virtue. Reading his handwriting, appreciating his signature, is a way of approaching the private universe of one of the most famous writers of the second half of the 19th century; for many, the father of "science fiction."
